Celebrate Juneteenth with MLK Westfield!

Juneteenth has been celebrated in the United States since 1865, when the enslaved people in Texas finally learned of the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) and that they were free!

We celebrate in 2023 with our annual Juneteenth African American History of Westfield Trolley Tours in the morning and a Street Party at the Westfield Community Center in the afternoon, where we will celebrate freedom, work towards an inclusive community, and reflect on where we are today.

There will be a DJ, line dance lessons, games, face painting, food trucks, a reading of the 1865 decree finally enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas, and a few words by The Rev. Jeremy Jinkins of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Visitors will also be able to  view a portion of the MLK pop-up museum in the Community Room.

Everyone is Welcome!!
